Happy Holidays!

It’s been about three months since I committed to this race, and I am about five months from my actual trip. Some days it feels so far off that it won’t come, and some days I feel like I am not doing nearly enough to prepare.

But while the trip is still a ways away, and there is not a team or itinerary yet, God is still moving and speaking in my life. Recently, I have had a few life changes that have been really hard, and flipped my idea of purpose on its head.

There are a few things I know for sure, such as knowing that God is good, that I have a loving support system, and that I love ice cream. Those things don’t change, but it seems everything else can and does. I have been so caught up in thinking about what I am and will be doing, writing ‘To Do’ lists just to push them off until later.

Honestly I am in the middle of that right now, but I have a verse that I have been holding on to. Jeremiah 17:7-8 reads,

“Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord,

    whose trust is the Lord.

8 He is like a tree planted by water,

that sends out its roots by the stream,

and does not fear when heat comes,

    for its leaves remain green,

and is not anxious in the year of drought,

for it does not cease to bear fruit.”

This holiday season feels like a year of drought for me, but I am resting in trust in the Lord. I am excited for the things that he will do, the memories and relationships I’ll make, and the ability to look back in a little while and see that God never stopped bearing fruit in me in this tough season.

If you’re going through a similar season, I would love to connect with you and hopefully encourage one another! Please feel free to reach out or comment, and I look forward to posting an update for how God has moved in the months leading up to my trip!
